Taking care of your muscles between appointments ...
If muscles are overworked from exercise or tense through poor posture or stress, consider self-massage between your professional massage appointments, from rolling out tense muscles and fascia to targeting trigger points.
Large foam rollers work well on the larger muscles (i.e. quads / hamstrings) to improve blood flow, encouraging the muscle to relax, they also work well to manipulate the fascia, helping with it's fluidity.
Smaller massage balls work well to apply targeted pressure to problem areas i.e. the glutes to release pinching of the sciatic nerve or between the shoulder blades to release knots that have lost the ability to relax the fibres hindering the repair of the tissue.
